A CIA-led group housed within the Michigan State University Group (MSUG) provided early counterespionage training to members of the Vietnamese Bureau of Investigation. Although the CIA group was largely autonomous, its adviser maintained a close relationship with the head of the Michigan State University Group (MSUG) police programs.
